We were lucky enough, as hotel residents, to get one of the best tables in Felix (and therefore I guess, all of Hong Kong) last night. And it's fair to say that the view justifies the prices, the fish and seafood being decent rather than top notch. Enjoyed some more cocktails too of course...
Hence a slightly later start than originally anticipated today. Fortunately our local Starbucks' cappuchino would awaken the dead (and Glasgow branches should certainly take note that they serve savoury pasties - f*** you, Greggs!). I digress. Today was a leisurely jaunt to Stanley, a local town renowned for its many bars and restaurants on its waterfront, lovely beaches and large open-air market. Lunch was at El Cid, a Spanish tapas bar. I know, very Hong Kong but it is highly regarded locally, offering excellent fresh food - we shared paella - and a sea view from it's outside terrace. Andie picked up a nice piece of home made jewellery at the market and we visited a Buddhist temple. Personally, choosing between religions is a bit like picking a favourite Old Firm team. But we agreed that we preferred a path to enightenment that involved lighting three joss sticks than murdering infidels.
On our return to Kowloon, we visited the famous Temple Street night market. Well worth a look but Andie's holding out til New York for a real Chloe bag. We write this as we're getting ready for our last meal in the hotel's Spring Moon restaurant, a (hopefully winning) combination of Art Deco style and high class Chinese food. On a slightly sourer note, we're getting picked up at 6am tomorrow to go to Sydney. Oh well, there's always the sky bed...
Final thoughts on Hong Kong. We will return! So many things to still do - visit the pandas at Ocean Park, see the Big Buddha at Lantau Island and racing at Happy Valley.
